Games in the Classroom Journal
The first game I played was COGS on the SmartBoard, and the objective of the game was to solve all the different puzzles , with each getting more difficult than the last. You have to connect the cogs together to get them to spin and connect the line to get the main objective to spin as well. Some of them were more challenging than others, at least for me. I found that if I just start moving the tiles around and look at it differently, it was easier to solve, although sometimes it made it more challenging. This would be a good game for students to work on their problem solving skills, and even teamwork skills. It makes it easier if they can work with a partner because they can bounce ideas off of each other so they can solve it faster. A teacher could use this game as a reward for getting their work done, or to work as motivation to get their work done. It could also be something they could use after they complete a test because it would be quiet enough for the people who are still working and keep those that are finished occupied so they don't make a lot of noise for the students still working.
